Poker Rules

Poker is an excellent card game usually played with five cards and multiple-players. This card game has many variants to it and the most popular one is Texas Hold’em. Other variants of poker are Omaha/8, Omaha High, Triple Draw, Five-Card Draw, Pineapple, Seven-Card Stud and Razz.

Rules for each and every variant are similar; the difference lies in the game play and winning hand combinations. The basic objective of each poker game is to create a card hand that ranks higher than the card hands of other players, in short to have a wining card hand combination.

Every variant has its own rule for the number of card decks to be used as well as for the use of Jokers. The card value is as per the card face, for example a card of 2 values 2. The card value rises from 2 to King, where 2 is a lower vale card and king is a higher card. Ace can be considered higher or lower based upon the game’s requirement.

During a game of poker, every player has to go through betting decisions like Call, Raise and Fold. A player Calls a bet by adding same of amount of money into the pot, a player raises a bet by adding more money than the earlier bet and Fold is a decision taken when a player wants to quit the game or the round of poker.

Each hand combination has its own ranking and the player with the better ranking hand on a poker table is the winner.
